Hydrophilic PTFE Membranes
Tisch Scientific supplies hydrophilic PTFE membrane filters, PTFE also known as Polytetrafluoroethylene is beneficial for it's high porosity and high laminating durability. PTFE Membrane Filters are most common to industries such as water treatment, air filtration, biosciences, chemical engineering, laboratory testing, food & beverage, electronic and pharmaceutical industries.
Tisch Scientific offers an extensive selection of proven, yet affordable products that are in stock and ready to ship today. Selected for their durability, material quality and performance characteristics, our microfiltration devices deliver accurate, measurable results at a fraction of the cost. Available in a wide variety of materials, sizes, and in sterile and non-sterile options, they are a superior choice for use in environmental, biotechnology, food/beverage, agricultural and many other applications.
Buy PTFE filters knowing that you’re buying the right item. Let us help you understand more about them before you purchase. For example, they work well as equipment protection filters for in-line vacuum filter systems. You’ll find more information here about their specifications and uses.
Applications for hydrophilic PTFE filtersProtection against harmful contaminants is of the utmost importance. Our disc filters prevent fluid and aerosol contamination of suction and vacuum pump systems at the same time, eliminating exhaust hazards. Here are some other uses for these filters.
- * Inorganic solvent with strong chemical causticity filtration
- * Mixed solvent filtration in HPLC (Acetronitrile/Water)
- * Alkali solvent filtration
What’s the chemical compatibility of this filter? This material is resistant against many chemicals, including those found below. For a more complete list, view our chemical compatibility guide.
Why Hydrophilic?PTFE is naturally hydrophobic (resistant to H2O). Why offer a hydrophilic (compatible with H2O) PTFE material that doesn’t offer one of its best features? Here’s why.
PTFE resists many harsh chemicals. Unfortunately, many of these chemicals need to be diluted with water. The PTFE will immediately stop these aqueous solutions from passing through the filters unless the PTFE is treated to become hydrophilic. Hydrophilic PTFE offers a material that holds up against harsh chemicals diluted in water.
More Specs? Here are additional details about our PTFE filters.
- * Housings are made of 100% polypropylene and are thermally bonded without adhesives.
- * The inlet and outlet are a 7-13 mm stepped hose barb. The internal diameter of the disk filter also works with a standard luer slip syringe.
- * Filtration of the 50mm disc filter is > 3 square inches.
- * Max operating pressure is > 45 psi.
- * Sterilize by autoclave using a cycle of 30 minutes at 123 degrees C at 1 bar. In place steam sterilization is not recommended. Perform an integrity test after autoclaving.
